Australian Open Garden Scheme – The Iron House

One of our projects at ‘The Iron House’ at 189 Brunswick Road, Brunswick, has featured as part of the Open Garden Scheme. Built in 1872, the house is of architectural and historic significance as it stands as part of the only intact row of prefabricated iron clad buildings in the world.   In 2007,  John Patrick,  Landscape Architect was tasked with designing an 18th century style inner city garden &  the creation of an indigenous garden at the rear of the property suitable for wheel chair access.   Blue Ribbon Gardenscapes were  responsible for building this new landscape and are proud to be associated with the project and would highly recommend a visit to this garden when it is next open - refer www.opengarden.org.au

Is your Landscaper Registered?

John Matthews, Proprietor of Blue Ribbon Gardenscapes is a Registered Building Practitioner (RBP) – Reg No DB-L 31640. Under the Building Act (1993) all Landscapers performing structural landscaping works are legally required to be licensed with the Victorian Building Authority as a RBP for both commercial or domestic work.

Using a Registered Building Practitioner means you are engaging a professional who is qualified, knowledgeable, experienced, registered with the Victorian Building Authority  and, importantly, covered by the appropriate insurance.

In Victoria, only Registered Building Practitioners can meet the legal requirements to carry out structural landscaping over $5,000.   A contract must be entered into for all works over $5,000 and domestic building insurance is compulsory for all works over $16,000.
